Pay Rate: $9.2897 - $9.5701/hr
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of
diversified automotive and heavy equipment. Adjusts and makes repairs to
engines, valves, carburetors, generators and related units; replaces all
worn or defective parts. Tunes motors by adjusting or replacing needed
parts. Make repairs to clutches, transmissions, differentials, brakes,
steering mechanisms and related units. Performs air conditioning repairs on
automobiles, trucks, and light and heavy equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of the standard practices,
tools, materials, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of a
variety of gasoline
and diesel powered vehicles and equipment.
· Working knowledge of the
principles of internal combustion engines and hydraulic systems.
· Ability to diagnose common
defects in automotive, construction, and related equipment and to repair
such defects with reasonable
proficiency.
· Ability to perform manual labor
associated with major mechanical repair work.
· Must have high school diploma or
GED; experience as an automotive mechanic;
· Computer knowledge a plus.
· Possession of valid Texas
Driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate physical activity such as people who work indoors and in warehouse
type jobs. On feet most of the time. Involves bending, stooping, squatting,
twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces and occasionally lifting
objects weighing 25 to 50 pounds
