LANDFILL SCALE
OPERATOR (PART-TIME)
Sanitation
Hiring Rate: $5.15/hr
JOB SUMMARY:
Weighs incoming vehicles delivering waste to the landfill and records the
weight, type of waste, and applicable charge on a weigh ticket. Charges are
documented in accordance with established procedures and reported to the Finance
Office at the end of the billing period. Provides information to patrons
concerning dumping fees and locations; directs vehicles onto scale and into
landfill. Locks and unlocks gate to landfill. Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of scale operation and the maintenance of associated
equipment. Some knowledge of basic clerical and bookkeeping principles. Ability
to accurately read scales and record data. Ability to prepare clear and concise
reports from recorded data. High school graduate or and equivalent combination
of experience and training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate physical activity such as people who work indoors and in warehouse type
jobs. On feet most of the time. Involves bending stooping, squatting, twisting,
reaching, working on irregular surfaces and occasionally lifting objects
weighing 25 to 50 pounds.
