Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum
is one of a kind here in the Rio Grande Valley, in that we have
three important historical buildings, Lon C. Hill’s original home,
the Paso Real (Stagecoach Inn), & Harlingen’s First Hospital. Aside
from the Historic structures we also have the HAHM Historic Museum,
& our main building which houses Temporary Exhibits. |

The Lon C. Hill home, is the home of the founder of Harlingen. The first floor of this two story historic home is open to the public. Get a glimpse of life at the turn of the century and find out how the family hid from bandits during the raids.
The Paso Real, a great example of a real stagecoach Inn that existed on the banks of the Arroyo Colorado. Relive the experience of buying a ticket for a long trip on a stagecoach, renting a room for the night before moving on, and send a letter to cousin Mary, telling her of your run-ins with Bandits.
Visitors will view a doctor’s office, reception room, operating room, pharmacy, two patients’ room, library, a birthing room and two baths. Authentic medical equipment, furniture and clothing complete this recreation of an early Twentieth Century hospital.
Originally the Air Police Station & Brig of the Harlingen Air Force Base, now houses our permanent collection of Harlingen and Texas historical artifacts and Provides a history of Harlingen
